15 Things You Must Do at Disney Aulani

15 Things You Must Do at Disney Aulani

I know that I keep raving about Disney’s Aulani, but it is for good reason!  Aulani has so much to offer including of course a tropical paradise, warm water and sandy beaches.  There are so many activities at Aulani that I wanted to narrow down the must dos as the list really is endless.  Here is our top 15 activities that we cannot wait to do again.

  1. Ka Wa’a A Luau

Unlike any another Luau you will experience, you will be enchanted by the Hawaiian history as well as the pre-show activities, dining and performance. This is a must see, make reservations early for preferred seating.

  1. Pool Party

Dancing, games, music and fun you and your little’s will enjoy, be ready with your camera – check the Daily ‘Iwa for days/times.

  1. Lazy River

The lazy river, also known as the Waikolohe Stream, is non-stop fun. Have a blast with your tubes, traveling through rapids, under waterfalls and enjoying the tropical paradise.  You may have a hard time exiting the river, I know we all did.

  1. Snorkeling at Rainbow Reef

Rainbow Reef is located right next to the pool, there is also a viewing window to check out the cool tropical fish. You can either purchase a one-time visit for $15 per child, or a pass for your entire stay for $29.

  1. Auntie’s Beach House, Tween & Teen Program

Auntie’s Beach House is open to children ages 3 to 12. Kids explore Hawaiian culture, music & art.  Register advance online at least two days (but no more than 90 days) prior to check-in, otherwise you will be standing in line each morning to try and grab a spot.  Check the Daily ‘Iwa for Tween & Teen activities such as Lei Making, Game Nights, Beach Challenges & more!

  1. Character Meals at Makahiki

Yes, Aulani has character breakfasts and dining! Makahiki is a buffet style restaurant located on the first floor.  The outdoor seating next the Koi pond is amazing.  This is the perfect time for photos, and special interactions with your favorite character.

  1. Lava Shack & Shave Ice

The Lava Shack is located in the pool area. Looking for Dole Cream – you will find it here! There is also a refillable mug station, this is a must for any Aulani trip.

  1. Take in the Hawaiian Culture at Aulani

Yes Aulani (meaning messenger of a chief) is Disney, but the native art and culture definitely comes through in the décor, design, entertainment, crafts and beauty. Disney did a remarkable job celebrating the spirit of the island and making this their priority at Aulani.  Overall, you can take in the culture at every turn if you look hard enough.

  1. Paddleboards & Kayaks

You can rent paddleboards and kayaks at Makiki Joe’s right by the lagoon. You can also check out beach toys and boogie boards for free!

  1. Catamaran Excursion

I have to say this was our favorite excursion (among the many that are offered). Coast along the shoreline of Oahu and take the island in.  Enjoy lunch and beverages on the catamaran, with is about a 3 ½ hour excursion.

  1. Get a Refillable Mug

Refillable mugs!! Yes, Aulani has them too and they are worth it!  You can purchase a Resort-refillable mug for $18.99, at either Lava Shack or Kālepa's Store. Throughout your stay at Aulani Resort, enjoy refills of non-alcoholic beverages, available at the following refillable mug stations:  Ulu Cafe: Offering fountain beverages, coffee, tea and cocoa from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM, Lava Shack: Offering fountain beverages from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, One Paddle Two Paddle: Offering fountain beverages from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

  1. Mo’Olelo Fire Pit Story Telling

Located at the Circle of ‘Alae ‘Ula, you will join Uncle, a master storyteller, as he shares Hawaiian legends and lore, this experience is sure to leave you smiling!

  1. Menehune Scavenger Hunt

Need a break from the pools and lazy river? Go on a scavenger hunt along the Menehune Adventure Trail where the legend of the Menehune comes to life.  My favorite part was the culture behind the hunt, get ready to enjoy!

  1. Watch an Outdoor Movie

Watch an outdoor movie under the stars! The outdoor movie isn’t offered every night (although there is movies to check-out in the clubhouse), but at least two to or so nights during the week.  Check the Daily ‘Iwa for the movie title and the location.

  1. Disney Family Fun Animation & other Activities

This is one of the many activities that are offered weekly (and I mean many!). Sign up at the Pau Hana Room Community Hall bright and early.
