Money Saving (Yes….I am Frugal!!) Tips & Tricks for your Disney Vacation!

Here are a few tips and tricks to help bring on the magic for your next Disney vacation!


This has to be the number one internet search out there for any vacation, and dare I say it, especially a Disney vacation. Chances are you will spend hours in the parks each day, you will not want to tote around a cooler with you, I promise!



But there are ways to save so that you can either cut the costs on your entire trip, or splurge elsewhere with a dining reservation or an upgrade. I will not be able to cover all of the tips and tricks in this one post as of course as there are many, so if you have something awesome to share please post it below in the comments and keep watching for new posts!

  • Use a Disney Travel Planner / Agent




  • Disney Reusable Cups & Mugs – This is huge and will most likely be a life and money saver for you! I would highly recommend these refillable mugs, here’s how it works:





    • The Refillable mugs are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs sold at your Disney Resort and Disney Waterparks. You can receive unlimited free refills on coffee, tea, and fountain drinks for your length of stay. If you are even thinking about going to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon I would highly recommend them. There is mug cleaning stations next to the drink station, so for a family of 4, we purchased 2 mugs, it worked out great. In the parks you can use the mugs for your free water & ice.





  • Grocery Delivery Service





    • You may be asking, how is this a money saver, well let me tell you. When we traveled to Walk Disney World we opted for the Magical Express, it made the most sense as we stayed in a Disney Resort. My one hang-up was how am I going to stock our room with water, drinks, milk, snacks and breakfast items without having to pay a high price for a cab. Grocery delivery was my answer! I can assist with this when requested.





  • Pack your snacks & other items noted in What to Pack and Why – this will save you a ton of money!




  • Disney Meal Plans





    • One of the most sought-after specials that Disney offers is the added bonus of a Dining Plan at certain times. Is this a good deal? Yes, if you are staying on property such as a Disney Resort at Disney World or doing character meals.





  • Set your daily spending limits (dining, souvenirs, extras)



  • Sign up for Mousesavers.com – more deals, links to coupons, etc.



  • Look into the Entertainment card for that area.



  • Use Groupon & other printable coupons for excursions and dining.



  • Photopass – This highly depends on you, some trips yes, I buy all of our Photopass photos on one CD, other trips I will have the photographers also use my camera to snap our pic.



  • Magical Express or a Rental Car? This all depends on where you are traveling and what your expectations are – meaning do you want to leave the property at all to explore? I’ve opted for both on our different vacations and when we are building your itinerary we can see what makes the most sense for you.



  • Bring your own stroller (or buy one down the street at Target, it is cheaper!)






    • Water & Ice – Simply ask for a cup of water with ice at a restaurant / food counter, it is that easy.







    • Club Cool Coca-Cola Samples at Epcot







    • Fastpass – you can lock down (and are encouraged to do so) your Fastpass selections 60 days before you travel to your WDW destination.







    • Stickers & Celebration Buttons – available at your resort check-in and most theme park stores.







    • Balloon’s at you’re your resorts front desk.







    • Brochures & Maps







    • Free Disney Personalized Family Decal & Free Shipping!







    • Become a Disney Visa cardholder for a free souvenir & a free keepsake photo
